M. Craig Phillips

January 29, 1922 - January 31, 2010

M. Craig Phillips, 88, of Aurora, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Provena Mercy Medical Center, Aurora, after the Lord gave him a full life serving Him, his family and friends.

He was born January 29, 1922 in Evanston, IL, the son of the late John Noble and Elizabeth (Gordon) Phillips. A graduate of Evanston Township High School, Craig served in the United States Army Air Force in World War II from 1943-1946 in Manila, Philippines. He retired from Barber-Greene Company in 1994 as a corporate personnel manager.

He was united in Christian marriage to his beloved wife, Estelle E. Phillips on May 7, 1955 and they dedicated their lives to Christ, teaching Sunday school at Central Bible Church and Orchard Valley Baptist Church in Aurora.

Craig spent his retirement years volunteering at the Wayside Cross Rescue Mission in Aurora teaching the “Master’s Touch” series six day a week. His greatest desire was that all people would come to know Christ and receive His salvation. Craig also actively served as a member of The Gideon’s International Organization and his favorite Bible verse was Romans 10:9-10.

Survivors include his family; a wonderful daughter, Diane (Tom) Kleinfeldt of Aurora, IL; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Kleinfeldt) Durbin of Rochelle, IL and Rev. Thomas M. (Kathy) Kleinfeldt of Elgin, IL; five great-grandchildren, Spc. Bethany (Spc. Jason) LaRossa of Ft. Benning, GA, Spc. David (Christine) Durbin of Batavia, IL, Bryan Kleinfeldt of Collinsville, IL, Jonathan (Anne) Kleinfeldt of Cary, IL and Jordan Ferrell of Rochelle, IL; seven great-great grandchildren, Sydney and Jayson Long of Ashton, IL, Leila Kleinfeldt of Cary, IL, Dominic and Adrianna LaRossa of Ft. Benning, GA, Daniel Durbin of Batavia, IL and Madison Fore of Rochelle, IL. He is also survived by his brother, John Noble (Mary) Phillips of Minneapolis, MN, several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Ellen Frohnmeyer and nephew Craig Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle (Richmond) in 1992, one brother, Gordon Phillips and two sisters, Marjorie Lochridge and Nancy Chandler.
