Harry E. Jones, Jr., 85, of Aurora passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010 at Provena Mercy Center. He was born January 2, 1925 in Peoria, IL. the son of the late Harry E. and Grace Jones, Sr..


Harry served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. He was employed at Walker Process for twenty nine years. Harry had been a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church since 1970 where he had volunteered in various capacities. He also volunteered for twenty years at Provena Mercy Center Hospital and was a regular blood donor. Harry was also a member of the Aurora Turner’s Club as well as the Aurora Moose Club.

Survivors include his wife of forty eight years, Cornelia of Aurora; two daughters, Jacqueline (Frank) Bailey and Sheryl (Michael) Murphy, both of Aurora; two grandchildren, Jason Murphy and Catherine Bailey; a sister, Margaret “Peggy” Anderson of St. Charles; a sister in law, Betty Jones of Rockford; four nieces and one nephew.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Jones and a brother, Bayard Jones.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 27 S. Edgelawn Dr. Aurora with Rev. Patricia Geiseman officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the church. Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to St. Mark’s Lutheran
Church.
