Glen O. Adkins, 90, a lifelong farmer in the Sugar Grove area, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013. He was born February 17, 1923 in Harrisburg, South Dakota.

Glen worked on the McCannon farm for 27 years and then on the Scott farm in Big Rock for 16 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and was a life member of the Sugar Grove American Legion where he was a past commander. Glen was a member of the United Church of Christ in Hinckley for 58 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Yvonne, his sons, Dave (Jan) Adkins and Rich (Lynda) Adkins, four grandchildren, Tricia (Anthony), David (Jen), Ryan (Bridget) and Reine (Mark), six great grandchildren, Logan, Miles, Coralie, Sabrina, Kaelynn and Alexa, five brothers, Roy, George, John Thomas, James and Kenneth and three sisters, Edith Moomy, Ruby Moore and Betty Smith.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Iva Adkins, 3 sisters, Viola Duncan, Lillie Markham, and Rosa Scoughton and two brothers, Charles and Howard Adkins.

Funeral services will take place at 11 A.M. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr. Sugar Grove. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until 11 A.M. prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Legion or to the Disabled Veterans.
